This year, the 17th Malaysia Woodball International Open Championship is to be held in Taman Metropolitan Batu, Kuala Lumpur, the same venue where the 2nd World Cup Woodball Championship was held in 2006.

To many, the venue is not new but a lot of improvement over the years. The course is well maintained and lift up to International Standard. With that, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you.

This year is very special by introducting the 1st Malaysia woodball Premier Cup where only the top 3 position of all past International Championship are eligible to participate. This is really a high standard prestige Woodball Championship ever held in the history of Woodball Sport. We are proud to stage this challenging Championship

On the other hand, we are very happy that Woodball eventually being accepted as one of the Sports for SUKMA XVI which was held and completed early in the month of July. There are seven states took part in the event and it was successfully organized. Since the entry age for SUKMA is limited to 21 age below, it has attracted many young and new comer to take up Woodball Sport.

In fact, we had the Malaysia National Woodball Championship just one month before SUKMA XVI and this is an annual event for Malaysia Woodball Association covering Open, Senior and Youth categories befitting Woodball is Sports for all.

Now, we want to focus more on local Woodball development to ensure in short time to come every state in our Nation would take up Woodball Sport benefiting our unique multiracial community for 1MALAYSIA CONCEPT. To achieve this goal, we would require the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other government agencies strong support.

If we can work together, we should be able to lift up the strong word "BOLEH" at all times.

Best wishes, Best of Health and Best of Luck.

Thank you for inviting me to pen a few words for the 17th Malaysia Woodball International Open Championship and 1st Malaysia Woodball Premier Cup Event programme booklet.

As Minister of Youth and Sports, I have the opportunity to get to know all the sports in this country and watch them played up close, and my Ministry is committed to give full support wherever possible including the sport of Woodball.

Woodball is relatively new to me and I believe that it can be a fun sport for all. Understandably, Malaysian Woodball was only established in 1996 and so far you have done well. In fact, Woodball was one of the sporting events in SUKMA XVI 2013 for the first time which saw seven states taking part.

I would like to congratulate the Malaysia Woodball Association for organizing the 1st Malaysia Woodball Premier Cup and 17th Malaysia Woodball International Open Championship 2013 held in Taman Metropolitan Batu, Kuala Lumpur. With more than a dozen countries taking part in the tournament, this is considered to be a big scale project. Well done to the association.

I would also like to give my most heartfelt welcome to the players from overseas such as China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Korea, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippine, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. I hope that you will find your stay in Kuala Lumpur to be enjoyable.

I wish you all great success and have a wonderful competition.

The 1st Malaysia Woodball Premier Cup shall take place in conjunction with 17th Malaysia Woodball International Open Championship scheduled from 22nd to 27th August 2013.

Having just completed the National Woodball Tournament and XVI Malaysian Games (SUKMA) in the month of June and July this year, whereby both events were successfully organized, I have no doubt that you will put up another magnificient show in organising Woodball Championship internationally. Prior to SUKMA XVI, I would say woodball is an uprising sport in Malaysia.

After SUKMA XVI, Woodball has been known in all sectors and getting popular in the whole nation of Malaysia. To propel and excel to greater height in developing Woodball, I hope it will be promoted throughout the nation.

Majlis Sukan Negara would very much like to support Malaysia Woodball Association for its dedication in promoting Woodball benefiting young and elderly Malaysian and Sports Tourism for our country. To end my message and too all the hard working committee, I would like to wish you every success of the 17th Malaysia Open and 1st Malaysia Premier Cup 2013. To all participants especially all the foreigners, enjoy your competition and pleasant stay in Kuala Lumpur.

The Championship will be participated by most outstanding athletes from the following countries namely Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong China, Japan, Singapore, Uganda and the host country, Malaysia.

Message of Greetings
First of all, I would like to congratulate Malaysia Woodball Association on hosting the 17th Malaysia Open International Woodball Championship 2013 and 1st Malaysia Woodball Premier Cup 2013.

Malaysia Open is one of major championships of Woodball opens. The championship is organized consecutively for 16 years already. I have been participating in Malaysia Open every year for 16 times also. However, owing to the date of 17th Malaysia Open and 1st Premier Cup conflicts with 2013 Diplomatic Woodball Friendship Tournament in Taipei, Taiwan, I personally am unable to participate in the events in Malaysia this year. Yet, I will attend the 7th Asian University Woodball Championship in Perlis, Malaysia in November.

The achievements of Woodball development in youth and school in Malaysia are well known, which is one of essentials to success. It is also the trend of Woodball development. Asian region has the foundation of Woodball development. Therefore, all superior nations in Asia not only promote Woodball in their own countries actively, but also should cooperate with International Woodball Federation (IWbF) to spread Woodball all around the world.

IWbF planned to hold Woodball workshops in Europe, Africa, and South America this year. IWbF was in Hungary & Czech Republic and New Zealand in May and July, respectively. IWbF will proceed to Brazil in September and also to Uganda for the workshop and open championship in October. All of these events need the supports of Woodball enthusiasts to accomplishment.

In addition to open championships of every country, members should also take part in the 8th Asian Cup Woodball Championship and 7th Asian University Woodball Championship in Kinmen, Taiwan and Perlis, Malaysia, respectively. I am looking forward to seeing Woodball friends soon in the coming events.

Last but not least, may the 17th Malaysia Open International Woodball Championship 2013 and 1st Malaysia Woodball Premier Cup 2013 be a great success, and health and happiness for all participants.

Woodball has been established in Malaysia since 1996 and you have organized all together 17 Woodball International Open Championships including this year 2013.

Every year, the Championship has attracted many players from different countries participating the said Championship mainly from Asian region.

Malaysia Woodball Association has put in a lot of effort to promote Sports Tourism led by your President Elaine Tan. For the past, the same Championships were held in different States in Malaysia like Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Perlis, Melaka & Kedah.

2013, Woodball was eventually gained acceptance into Malaysia Games (SUKMA) which was held from 29th June - 3rd July and there were 7 States namely: Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Terengganu, Perlis, Pulau Pinang, Kedah & Selangor participated. It was a great success. Congratulations!

In view of eligible age limitation below 21 for SUKMA, the image of Woodball has changed the perception of elderly game to younger generation. It is now played in schoolds, colleges, and Universities.

As from now, Woodball is Sports for all, a very promising games for all age and both sex in Malaysia.

I hope the Ministry of Youth and Sports together with Malaysia Sports Council will continue to render their help and support positively.

With that I hope Malaysia will continue its untiring effort, excel and strike to greater height.

Best wishes with collective effort to make dream come through.

To all Muslim participants and friends, I bid you SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI!

As organizing chairperson, I am happy to welcome the contingents from Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Uganda as well as local contingents from Pahang, Perlis, Pulau Pinang & Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.

This year, the 1st Malaysia Woodball Premier Cup is the New Challenging event. I hope the Mass Media will have the interest to cover and highlight this grand event in the history of Woodball Championships ever held.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants, advertisers, supporters and volunteers together with hard working committee to make this event a great success.

I wish and hope that all participants will enjoy the competition and your stay in Kuala Lumpur.
